Rachel Gibson was born October 17, 1978 in Connecticut where she lived with her family until she went away to college. While studying for her degree she was approached by someone claiming to be affiliated with the United States Government and offered Rachel a chance to serve her country as a member of an off-book BlackOps division of the CIA labeled as The Shed. There under the call-sign of Mockingbird, Rachel worked under Gordon Dean as the main computer tech. While working for Gordon Dean Rachel hacked into various secure networks securing Intel that would bring Gordon Dean closer to his ultimate plan of learning the identity behind the members of Prophet Five. For two years Rachel worked for The Shed, lying to her family using the front of her job to give them reassurance that she was safe and doing well for herself.

In 2007, while The Shed was based in Prague Rachel Gibson was captured by members of an off-book BlackOps division of the CIA referred to as APO after a high speed car chase. While in captivity Rachel was told the truth about The Shed, and the agency she had been working for. When she learned the truth Rachel was distraught but offered to give APO and the real CIA any information she had regarding Gordon Dean and his operation. In order to give APO all the information they needed, she returned to The Shed in an effort to allow them to copy all of his data from the servers within their base of operations. In the process however Rachel's motives were revealed by Kelly Peyton, a co-worker and friend of Rachel's during her time at The Shed. Realizing his operation was at stake Gordon Dean and Kelly Peyton fled the building after setting off an EMPulse and triggering a countdown for detonation of the building.

When the pulse kills the download Agent Tom Grace raced toward the building fearing for the worst. On the way to the building the bomb went off, with Rachel Gibson making her way into the stairwell where debris from the explosion fell on top of her. Tom made it to the floor of the explosion thinking he was too late to save her, but was relieved to find Rachel in the stairwell, still alive.

For the next few months Rachel worked within APO to bring down Gordon Dean along with Prophet Five. She was also involved in a Level Black Operation to rescue Nadia Santos from Prophet Five custody. Once Nadia was safe within the WitSec program and being watched by NSC Agent Eric Weiss Tom and Rachel returned to APO in time to see Arvin Sloane's ultimate plan revealed. The night before they all planned to go out to finish with Prophet Five Tom visited Rachel at her apartment and kissed her. Opting not to hurt her Tom left while Rachel went to get them coffee. When Rachel returned to an empty apartment she was stunned, but not as stunned as when Julian Sark knocked on her door and kidnapped her. Rachel along with Marshall Flinkman were held captive in an effort to locate intel that Arvin Sloane needed to find the true secret of Rambaldi. During their hostage situation Rachel and Marshall were able to send out a distress to APO and were ultimately rescued.

Back at APO the team went through all of Arvin's records now that they knew that he had once again betrayed them all. When blueprints of APO and the surrounding tunnels were found in his files the team realized that there was a good chance Arvin had planned on blowing up APO to clean up his 'mess' and rid himself of any more guilt. Dixon and Tom went searching for the explosives while Rachel and the others helped with the evacuation.

Once the evacuation was complete Thomas Grace remained below, sacrificing himself in the blast that none of them could have stopped. Not taking time to mourn the remaining members of APO used the intel they had gathered from Peyton they to put a stop to Irina Derevko and Arvin Sloane's final endgame.

In the wake of loss of both Thomas Grace and Director Jack Bristow the team was unsure of their commitment to the cause. With Irina dead and Arvin assumed dead the goal of APO shifted more on task with the current political and international situations that most government agencies wouldn't be able to deal with effectively. Rebuilding from the ground up under the newly appointed Director Sydney Bristow APO regained it's stature and position and is still operating with it's core field team.

Since the rebuilding of APO Rachel Gibson unawares to her coworkers has reconnected with her one night stand & one-time torturer Julian Sark. Despite her better judgment Rachel met him for drinks, and in an effort to be honest with herself had to admit that she was still attracted to him despite everything she'd been through. The two started to see each other, for physical needs each assumed, but since then it has built up to something of a relationship. Both know the risk that the other takes in simply seeing the other, but neither have been willing to step away as of yet. The more time they spend with each other, the harder it makes time apart from the other. In what will no doubt become a problem of grand levels the two are currently happy to simply trust that when the inevitable occurs that each of them will deal with it however is needed.
